Linzer: Ancient Austrian Recipe

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ingredients:

 

300 g Flour

150 g tempered Butter

100 g Icing Sugar

1 tsp. Baking Powder

1 cooked Egg Yolk

1 Egg

1/2 Vanilla Pod

 

Method:

Mix the flour, baking powder, and sugar.

Add the egg, the egg yolk cut into small pieces, the butter and the seeds of the vanilla pod.

Work the dough until you obtain a homogeneous mixture. Wrap it in a plastic film and leave it for 2 hours in the refrigerator.

Roll out the dough to 3 mm thick and cut out the formes with cookie cutters. Remember to cut out the middle part in half of the forms by using a mini cookie cutter.

Place the Linzer on baking paper. Bake at 165 °C for about 12-15 minutes. After baking, place on a mesh rack to cool. Glue the pairs of Linzer with jam.
